It’s Lent! Which means it’s time for meatless Friday. During Lent, typically, seafood is consumed on Fridays/ Today, I want to share a tostada de sardinas recipe! This recipe is quick and easy to make. It is a little different, but so full of flavor! am very excited to tell you all about it. So, let’s get to it!

Benefits of Sardines

According to Healthline, sardines offer the following health benefits:

  • Omegas
  • Vitamins B12 and D
  • Calcium
  • Iron
  • Potassium
  • Protein

If you have never eaten sardines before, this is a great way to enjoy them. The brand I personally use is La Sirena. In this recipe, I combine the sardinas with chopped tomato, La Morena chiles, chopped tomato, diced onion, and minced cilantro. I add plenty of lime juice and mix it all together really well. After that, I enjoy the mixture on top of a tostada. Finally, I pair my meal with a michelada! The combination is so delicious. You have to try it for yourself.

Tostada de Sardinas Recipe

Ingredients:

  • La Morena jalapeños, 1 can
  • Pericos tostadas, 1 bag
  • La Sirena Sardines, 1 can
  • 2 firm roma tomatoes
  • ½ red onion
  • 1 handful cilantro
  • Lime juice, to taste
  • Salt, to taste

Directions:

  • Firstly, wash and dry the produce.
  • Secondly, drain the sardines.
  • Next, dice the tomato and onion.
  • Mince the cilantro and jalapenos.
  • Mixed the chopped ingredients in a bowl.
  • Crumble up the sardines. Add them to the chopped vegetables.
  • Mix well.
  • Dress with lime juice and salt.
  • Optional. Add a bit of the jalapeño vinegar to the mix for even more flavor.
  • Serve on a tostada.
  • And, finally, enjoy!
