It’s that time of year! Time for yummy holiday recipes. In today’s post, I will share a delicious holiday yams recipe. These holiday yams are perfect for this fall season and pair wonderfully with brussels sprouts, balsamic chicken, and a tangy drink. I am so excited to share how to make these yams just in time for the holidays!
According to Healthline, yams and sweet potatoes have many healthful benefits. They are packed with fiber, magnesium, vitamin C, and vitamin B5. In addition to being flavorful, yams are delicious! In fact, they are so tasty that sometimes I like cooked, mashed yams just on their own. The flavor and texture are so sublime, that sweet potato tastes really delicious on its own. However, for the holiday season, I add to add a little extra love when I prepare yams. Are you ready? Bueno pues, let’s get to this tasty recipe!
Holiday Yams Recipe
To make this side dish, you will need the following ingredients:
- Yams, 2
- Olive oil, one tablespoon
- Butter, one tablespoon
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- Cayenne pepper, one pinch, optional
Now that you have gathered your ingredients, you are ready to make the holiday yams recipe! Firstly, preheat an oven to 425 degrees. Secondly, wash and peel the yams. Then, poke with a fork all over.
Señora Advice: this helps to prevent the yam from bursting from the heat in the oven.
Next, wrap the yam with foil. Then, bake in the oven for 45-50 minutes. After that, carefully remove the yams from the oven and place in a bowl. Now, in a bowl, mash the yams. Then, add the butter, olive oil, salt, pepper and cayenne pepper. Next, stir in the ingredients. You will see the butter melts into the mashed yams beautifully. Finally, you are ready to enjoy!
Serve as a side dish with your favorite meal. This goes great with poultry and your favorite green vegetables, like asparagus or brussels sprouts.
¡Buen Provecho!
