I could eat salsa for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Salsa verde, red salsa. Spicy. Mild. I love it all! This air fryer roasted salsa, however, is my latest favorite. It has revolutionized the way I make salsas.
Salsa Ingredients
Tomatoes: roma tomatoes, or tomatillos are my favorite types of tomatoes to use for salsas. Additionally, I use fresh or canned tomatoes. Both types are delicious!
Chiles: Some chiles you can use are fresh jalapeños or Serranos. Canned chipotle peppers are also an option. Further, dried chiles such as guajilloa or chill de arbol taste great too!
Onion: red onion works great in fresh salsa like pico de Gallo. While white and yellow onions are great for roasted salsas.
Garlic: A garlic clove or two (or three!) go a long way in roasted salsas.
Cilantro: An aromatic that packs a punch of flavor. You can add fresh, minced cilantro as a finishing touch to any and every salsa.
Salt: A pinch of salt to taste will bring all your flavors together for the absolute most delicious salsa you could imagine.
Lemon or Lime: A squeeze of citrus tastes amazing in fresh salsas.
I keep these ingredients in my home at all times. In fact, I grow several in my home garden. Having these ingredients at home means I am always prepared to make delicious salsas!
My cookbook has an entire reaction devoted to salsas. And so does my blog. Check out my free salsa recipes here.
Molcajete or Blender?
A lot of people love the authenticity of making roasted salsa in the molcajete. I, however, love the convenience of making salsa in the blender. However you prefer, the salsa will still taste delicious!
How to roast salsa veggies
When I was growing up, my mom would roast the salsa ingredients on a coma, or griddle. Alternatively, they can be roasted in the oven. Or, outdoors on a grill.
Air Fryer Roasted Salsa
Lately, I prefer to use my air fryer. For instance, it’s easy. Additionally, the house doesn’t fill up with smoke. Finally, no one coughs from the roasted chiles.
