Your mom didn’t share measurements, but I do. If you’re craving authentic, comforting flavors of home with a modern or healthy twist—like crock pot pozole or air fryer tacos dorados—I’m here to bring you inspiration, clever kitchen hacks, and of course the exact measurements you need to keep our traditions alive.

Celebrating SalviMex matriarchs through food

The matriarchs in my life inspired the recipes of Herencia Cookbook. When I was growing up, my mother owned and operated a Mexican bakery in Inglewood. Thanks to her, I can proudly say that I am a second-generation food entrepreneur, in addition to a published author.

In Herencia Cookbook, you will find recipes inspired by her, as well as my great grandmother, grandmother and mother-in-law. Everything I know about cooking and womanhood, I owe to these women. I hope when you read about the matriarchs who molded me, you can think fondly of the matriarchs in your own life.

What people are saying

Hi, I’m Bernie

Growing up, I spent countless hours in my mother’s Mexican bakery in Inglewood, surrounded by the scent of freshly baked goods and the hustle and bustle of her business. It was an unconventional childhood, but one filled with warmth, love, and the most delicious cakes for every occasion.

My mother’s entrepreneurial spirit ignited a fire within me, inspiring me to pursue my passions and eventually create the Internationally recognized and award-winning Herencia Cookbook.
